Botulinum Toxin – What To Do Before, During And After A Botulinum Toxin Treatment

The more prepared your aesthetic patient is before and after your treatments the better the result they will obtain and the more confident they will be with your clinic. Please find below the information I provide my Botulinum Toxin patients with.

Botulinum Toxin – What to do before, during and after a Botulinum Toxin treatment
What to do before a Botulinum Toxin treatment

For you to have a positive experience with your Botulinum Toxin treatment below are a few steps to follow before the treatment takes place:

Select a doctor who knows what they are doing. The doctor is board-certified and has several years of experience. Good Botulinum Toxin is all dependent on the skill and technique of the Botulinum Toxin Injector.
Be open and transparent with the doctor. When filling in the medical form, write and tell your doctor your medical history in detail, your current illnesses, the medication you are currently taking (even supplements), whether you are pregnant, breast-feeding or trying to conceive so the doctor can determine if you are suitable for Botulinum Toxin treatment.

Make sure Botulinum Toxin is the correct treatment for you. A reputable and experienced doctor will know what Botulinum Toxin treatment will work for your skin and which Botulinum Toxin treatment will not. For example, you may benefit from fillers for certain types of wrinkles.

Do not be afraid to ask as many questions to you wish. Go in with a list.
What to do during your Botulinum Toxin treatment

What you need to do during the Botulinum Toxin treatment is not as important as what you do before and after your Botulinum Toxin injection. However, there are a few things to keep in mind for a good treatment:

Go au naturel if you choose. Your skin will be cleaned with either rubbing alcohol or an antiseptic before the Botulinum Toxin injection. So turning up without any make-up on is fine.

Stay still and follow the doctor’s instructions. If you are afraid or nervous please make your doctor aware and set your mind on something random or relaxing.

Use an ice pack before, during and after Botulinum Toxin treatment can help reduce and signs of bruising.
What to do after your Botulinum Toxin treatment
What you do after your treatment and how to care for your skin is paramount. Below are some suggestions to do or avoid after a Botulinum Toxin treatment.
Do not touch, rub or massage the injected part of your skin for 24 hours. You do not want the Botulinum Toxin to spread to other unintended muscles.
Avoid strenuous physical activity and avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol.
Do not book yourself for a facial, chemical peel to microdermabrasion for at least 24 hours.
If you do get a small Botulinum Toxin bruise, you can use topical K and arnica to help you.

Go back for top ups if you need to or if you are not satisfied with your results.
If you experience any side effects or complications please call the Doctor or seek medical attention.
Following the above will help you get the best out of the treatment and better results.

2. As we start to finally approach Summer I find in my aesthetics clinic the demand for procedures such as Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers increases as the patients want to look and feel their best during the Summer period. Why not take advantage of this increase in demand?
