Allergan’s Story Spells Hope For Cosmetic Treatment Providers

Ireland was one of the places that bore the some of the strongest impact of the global financial crisis in 2008. Fortunately, there was some economic help from the likes of Allergan, manufacturer of Botulinum Toxin, the popular wrinkle remover. Thanks to the company’s boost in sales, it partly helped Ireland recover from the recession and banking crisis.

Despite the economic downturn, Allergan’s profit figures rose to £176M in 2012. Researchers noted that demand for Botulinum Toxin is the underlying cause, citing an 8% or a $415.3M growth in global sales. Consumers still clamoured for the brand, notwithstanding the turmoil and recession in the eurozone.

If the Botulinum Toxin manufacturer overcame the crisis and achieved more revenues, then the suppliers and providers of this brand even more so. In fact, studies suggest that most of their profits come from Botulinum Toxin treatments nowadays.

High Demand for Cosmetic Procedures

Studies suggest that demand for cosmetic procedures will continue to rise over the years. A researcher from the University of Central Lancashire noted that cosmetic treatments in the UK would be worth £3.6bn, with 75% of the figures coming from non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

In addition, a study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) revealed there were 50,122 cosmetic procedures performed in the UK in 2013 alone – a 17% increase compared to previous years. Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers are among the most sought-after treatments.

Other Trends

Botulinum Toxin providers and suppliers of non-surgical cosmetic procedures will enjoy more returns due to the brand’s popularity among public figures and everyday people. In fact, a study showed there were about three million injections of botulinum toxin worldwide. Dental practices expect more demand coming from patients who want to be like their favourite celebrities.

The increasing safety of Botulinum Toxin is another reason for its success, according to a research by JAMA Dermatology. Researchers found minimal or no complications in a study of 20,000 minimally invasive procedures. They further noted that Botulinum Toxin injections and dermal fillers are safe when provided by trained professionals.
